What to Ask Before Paying a Medical Facilitator in China

A medical facilitator can be useful, but only if the service solves a real coordination problem. Before paying, separate fear from value.

Ask these questions first

  • What exactly will you do for me?
  • Is your fee separate from the hospital bill?
  • Can I pay the hospital directly?
  • Which hospital and doctor are you recommending, and why?
  • Will I receive the appointment confirmation, receipts, test results, and doctor notes?
  • What happens if the appointment is cancelled or the doctor is unavailable?

Good answers sound specific

A trustworthy service can explain the hospital route, expected fee range, document needs, translation scope, and refund rules. Vague answers like "we have special access" are not enough.

Simple rule: do not pay a large upfront fee until the service scope, hospital costs, refund rules, and appointment details are written down.

Practical note: The point is not to avoid all paid help. The point is to know exactly what problem the payment solves, what the hospital itself charges, and what you can do directly.
