International Department, VIP Clinic, or Ordinary Outpatient?
In China, the same hospital may offer different patient routes: ordinary outpatient care, expert clinic, VIP clinic, international department, or private international service. These routes can differ a lot in price and convenience.
Ordinary outpatient
Usually the lowest direct cost and the most local route. It may be crowded and Chinese-language based. Good for cost-sensitive patients who can navigate the system.
Expert clinic
A specialist or senior doctor appointment inside the public hospital system. It may cost more than ordinary registration but less than international service. Availability can be limited.
VIP or special needs clinic
Often more comfortable and appointment-based, with higher fees. Language support varies by hospital.
International department
Usually designed for foreigners, executives, private insurance users, and patients who need smoother coordination. It may offer English support and direct billing, but prices can be much higher.
