Useful Chinese Phrases for Registration, Payment, and Insurance

You do not need perfect pronunciation. In a hospital, showing Chinese characters on your phone is often more useful than saying the English phrase.

Registration

  • 我想挂号。 Wo xiang guahao. I want to register.
  • 我想用护照挂号。 Wo xiang yong huzhao guahao. I want to register with my passport.
  • 我应该挂哪个科? Wo yinggai gua nage ke? Which department should I register for?

Payment and insurance

  • 这个是自费吗? Zhege shi zifei ma? Is this self-pay?
  • 可以用医保吗? Keyi yong yibao ma? Can medical insurance be used?
  • 可以直接结算吗? Keyi zhijie jiesuan ma? Can this be directly billed?
  • 请给我发票和费用清单。 Qing gei wo fapiao he feiyong qingdan. Please give me an invoice and itemized bill.

When you are lost

  • 下一步我应该去哪里? Xiayibu wo yinggai qu nali? Where should I go next?
  • 我不会说中文。可以写下来吗? Wo bu hui shuo Zhongwen. Keyi xie xialai ma? I do not speak Chinese. Can you write it down?
